MESSAGE FROM THE ITF PRESIDENT PROF. CHANG UNG

Dear Members,

The summer holiday season is coming closer to us and I wish everybody enjoy this holiday season with the family and friends and so on.

However, to us, the ITF members, this season is considered most busy because you would be "forced" to concentrate on the training for the coming World Championship scheduled in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 16th to 21st Sep. this year.

I terribly feel regret and sorry on this and look forward to the generous understandings from you all.I, as the ITF President, have no choice but requesting all ITF members through this page to make the possible contributions to the strength and promotion of your ITF, instead of spending the wonderful times in these periods.Frankly speaking, we put the particular significance on the 8th Junior & 3rd Veteran Taekwon-Do World Championship as it is held right after the Beijing Olympic Games.As everybody knows well, the WTF will organize their own competitions during the Beijing Olympic Games, consequently, it would be the more precious chance than ever for the peoples world-wide to evaluate through the competitions of the ITF and WTF accordingly which one is real and better.   Of course, it is well known fact in this globe that our techniques are the original one as the Martial-Art Discipline which is far different from the WTF's one which has been known to the peoples as Sports only, however, most of peoples do not know exactly what is different between the ITF and WTF.It is not my intention to blame anybody here but to highlight the duties and obligations of our members to keep yourselves well and stronger.In recent, we have achieved some progresses in the talks with the WTF to solve the TKD issue as earlier as possible in conformity with the interests and benefits of the whole TKD family.However, we have still long way to go and, in order to make this historical project accomplish earlier, we need more supports and cooperation from you.I have no doubt that we have the ability and power to overcome any difficulties and challenges we are encountering and should again show it to the world through the 8th Junior & 3rd Veteran Taekwon-Do World Championship.

Professor Ung Chang has been awarded a Doctorate in Sociology and Political
Sciences for his thesis entitled “Study on the Olympic Movement – the
Olympic Games and Politics”. The Chairman of the State Commission
for Conferring Academic Degrees and Titles of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,Bom-Gi Gwak, presented Ung Chang with his doctoral diploma at a ceremony held in July in Pyongyan.
